The NSDUH Follow-up Study is a nationwide study that asks about mental health. In 2023 and 2024, approximately 2,000 interviews will be completed per year with respondents aged 18 and older. All interviews will be conducted virtually with respondents who have previously completed the main NSDUH interview and have been selected for, and agreed to participate in, the NSDUH Follow-up Study.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), sponsors the NSDUH Follow-up study. SAMHSA's Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ), oversees all aspects of the study including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
